It was 110 degrees in the shade so we decide it is time to head north.
Looks like Study Butte will be our first stop.
You know it is going to be a hot dusty day when you see them watering the parking lot.
A quick stop at Terlingua Ghost Town - just too hot to walk around.
We had asked the woman at the store in Study Butte if we should take this road with the RV or just take the tow vehicle and come back- she said we'd be fine.
Unfortunately, it was 106 degrees and the engine started to sputter and stall.
So we stopped into the Tee Pee Rest Area for a picnic lunch andlet the RV cool down. Gary asked a passing motorist if we would be able to make the grade - he advised against it - so we unhooked the tracker and continued the drive with it.
The view from the Top of the 15 percent grade.
We come across a film location for some old westerns.
While walking around I keep hearing a cowbell, finally I look across the river and see the source:
It is definitely a winding road.
But it comes close to the Rio Grande in several spots. (Sure glad they built thosefences ontheBorder)
We turn back around to go back to the RV and see another smaller motorhome being towed - Glad we unhooked!
Now we are off to Marfa to see the lights!
Meanwhile, we keep on Trek'n
More Later,
Melissa and Gary
